Meet at Ro2 Art at 9:45 and be the first to preview two new exhibitions. Gillian Bradshaw-Smith’s Finding Daphne, is long-anticipated first Dallas solo exhibition of new paintings and large scale textile collages by the Dallas-based artist who first gained notoriety in 1970s New York, garnering several important solo exhibitions and museum shows. For Upstart Crow, Robin Ragin presents a new series of assemblages inspired by her mentor of 15 years, David McManaway – a contemplative farewell after his passing about the profound possibilities of objects left behind by others.
At 10:30 the bus heads north to the private museum, The Warehouse, for a tour with Caitlin Overton of their exhibition curated by Allan Schwartzman. Identity Revisited is an examination of personal and cultural notions of identity in contemporary art. International in scope and spanning many generations, this exhibition includes work that addresses history, gender, race, childhood, mortality, and memory.
Identity Revisited draws works from The Rachofsky Collection, Amy and Vernon Faulconer, Dallas Museum of Art, Goss-Michael Collection, The Pinnell Collection, the Collection of Marguerite and Robert Hoffman, The Rose Collection, and Sharon and Michael Young.
Travel on in North Dallas to Valley House Gallery & Sculpture Garden for a preview of David Gibson: Still Light, a survey exhibition celebrating their 26-year collaboration and two publications designed by award-winning Nazraeli Press, with an essay by John Rohrbach, Senior Curator of Photography at the Amon Carter Museum. Thirty years of works from silver gelatin to archival pigment prints show highlights of his career to date.
Enjoy lunch on the terrace in the sculpture garden at Valley House.
Move onward to the home of Debra Stevens and Scott Jackson to view their collection of contemporary Texas artists. Tour the dynamic contemporary architectural changes and the garden which designed by Robert Bellamy.
A surprise last stop, weather permitting: David Gibson’s garden. You have seen his photographs, now you will see his private refuge in the heart of Dallas.
After the bus returns to Ro2 at 2:30, you will have another chance to preview their exhibitions. Next door at The MAC, Rachel Rogerson has agreed to give us a private tour of their new location and preview their upcoming exhibition Mud Campaign, by H Schenck.
Tickets are $75.00 per person. Seating is limited to the first 25 responders. To purchase tickets visit www.etix.com. Guests are provided with bus transportation, lunch, and refreshments. The guided portion of this tour is approximately four hours long. For more information about the September 10th bus tour, please contact Laura Green at 972-239-2441 or Jordan Roth at 214-803-9575.
